Looking to refresh your living space? 2019 is bringing some really strong kitchen trends and not all of them are for everyone, but there’s something for everybody when it comes to updating one of the most important rooms in the house.
Open Shelving: Replacing upper cabinets with glass, wood or metal shelving is showing up everywhere. This trend follows hotel and retail spaces and lends itself to more of a minimum vibe.
Wood: The use of wood is still a consistent element in kitchen design. It draws in the connection to nature. This is a trend you will see especially in the countertops and is easy to add to homes in our mountain area.
Colored Cabinetry: Gone are the days of the boring white cabinets. Go bold with a black, green, grey or hues of blue. Pair these colors with brass or another metal finish to stay on trend.
Raw Materials: This is one of our favorite trends. Add in stone, wood, shiplap, old wood beams and jute materials. This is always a fun trend to lighten up kitchens that tend to be darker.
Hiding Appliances: Gone are the days of the large protruding hoods. Think sleek thin and high tech design. The main focus for 2019 is the countertop, backsplash, lighting design etc..and hiding all the appliances.
Pendant Light Fixtures: Think of pendant lights as statements that can define your spaces. Some of our favorite online retailers are Shades of Light, Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Restoration Hardware.
Technology: We knew this one wasn’t going anywhere but up. Think of more wifi-enabled gadgets like espresso makers and single pour wine systems.
Tall Backsplashes: The skies the limit with this trend. Take your heavy veining backsplash from the countertop to the ceiling,
Leather and Wood Drawer Pulls: Mixing up the materials on the pulls can make the kitchen go from a classic to trendy mood. This provides a more natural warm feel.
Matte Black: This classic color is going matte. Think of using this trend anywhere from appliances, cabinets and hardware accents. Be sure to keep other areas lighter and fun.
